You Got to Read This! Being Catholic is Cool!

Shhhhh! Between Us!

Do you understand the exciting, ancient land of Egypt? Or the small but unflinching Catholic Church in Niger? I’ll not tell anyone, you know Africa, by the way? Who stole Nigeria’s elections in April? Shhhh! someone is bringing development to Malawi. At the expense of the people. All that and more in the July-August issue of New People magazine, now selling. The Dragon’s Home

Make a journey to the central Kenya homeland of Mungiki, the dragon that has struck terror into the hearts of many here. Then there is this candid, gripping tale of yet another dragon. Injustice. A Catholic journalist tells you how he earned a year in prison. Plus much, much more. In the June-July issue of The Seed, Kenya’s top Catholic monthly. Contact: theseed-mag@wananchi.com

Ask Me Another

Some 240 pages of answers to quite interesting questions on the Catholic faith in the new, expanded fourth edition of the ever popular booklet, Hot Points of Catholic Teaching, by Fr Luigi Anataloni, editor of The Seed magazine. More notes, internet references, updated and expanded passages, references to the Compendium of the Catholic and an analytical index. Newcomer

I have been reading a number of interesting Blogs in recent weeks and decided to experiment myself. So here is a first timer exploring the possibilities of cyberspace. Anyone out there who wants to guide this newcomer is welcome to do so. You will have to bear with the spelling and the grammer.
One of the more interesting blogs I have been reading is "Clerical Whispers". I recommend it to those of you interested in Catholic Church affairs and news in the English speaking world, with many interesting comments on aspects of Irish life.
My interests include Church affairs, especially matters related to Mission in our modern world, Third World issues, Climate change and also sports (Kilkenny for another McCarthy in 2007 and Ireland to do the needful in France in September), family tree matters and current affairs.
As I write, the Pope has just announced a relaxation of the rules governing the Latin Mass. I am skeptical as to what fruits this will bring apart from giving comfort to those members of the Catholic Church who long for this traditional form of worship.
I conclude my first POST hoping that you will join me again sometime.
